Q: When does the 2014 season begin?
A: Practices and grading begin Monday August 11th, 2014 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Lewis Park. Practices will be Mon-Thurs during those times, until school begins. After school starts, our regular practice schedule will be M, T, Th, 6:00-7:30.
This year, we're again starting a week earlier than usual, to end the season a week earlier. We had good feedback about this last year--avoiding scheduling conficts at the end of our football season with MEA weekend, and/or hockey & basketball tryouts.
Q: What weight does my player have to achieve to earn a black stripe this year?
A: Players who are 141 pounds or over will be designated black stripers. They may receive and advance the ball as tight ends. Players 140 and under may also play in the offensive backfield. All players may play any position on defense and special teams.
Q: What if my son is going to miss a practice before grading/the draft/school starts?
A: First, evaluation will only run one week for our 7th graders this year. Teams will be drafted in the 2nd week of practice.
We still understand some players have conflicts during the evaluation practices. Please make every reasonable effort to be at evaluation practices. If that is not possible, alert the coordinator which days you will be missing. All fully-registered players will be placed on a team.
Q: Will practice be cancelled if it's going to rain / is raining?
A: No, generally we will practice and play games in rain; unless it is very heavy rain, it has rained for a long time before, or lightning is present. Of course, lightning might occur at any time, so be prepared to pick up your player if lightning occurs. If we know ahead of time, we will send a message to registrants, and/or try to post on the EFA's home webpage.
