The EFA, Safety and You

There is nothing the EFA takes more seriously than the safety of our athletes. We believe that youth football can be run in safe manner than minimizes the risk of both minor and serious injuries. Despite the barrage of negative press around professional football programs, more and more research is showing that well run youth football programs actually have fewer injuries than many other youth actitivies. While no youth sport can be guaranteed to be injury-free. We, at the Edina Football Association, have put the following measures in place to do everything we can to keep your child safe:

  • Have a medical doctor on our board that is the Director of Safety that manages injury procedures and reporting
  • Offer assistance with helmet and other equipment fitting at various times
  • Offer ImPact concussion testing to our athletes
  • Mandate concussion training on all of our coaches
  • Have medical personnel on site at all tackle football games
  • All tackle level coaches complete a USA Football Tackling Certification program
  • Coach training on how practice impacts injury potential: review things such as limiting hits
